Recent thefts in Letcher County have left one company searching for $20,000 worth of equipment.
The Bluegrass Materials-Cumberland Rock Quarry has been robbed twice in the past month. The company is now offering a reward and is asking for your help in catching this thief.
Police says the suspect took hand tools and other equipment from the quarry in the two thefts that total almost $20,000.
"It's not only affected the owners of this property, but the workers also because if you don't make a profit, you can't buy new tools and get raises," said the quarry manager Mark Roark.
Roark says after breaking in, the suspect disarmed the alarm system, but security footage caught the man in the act.
"Apparently one individual. We don't know if he has any accomplices waiting on the outside or helping him distribute the material," said Tony Watts with Kentucky State Police.
Two thefts in a two week span has caused this quarry to beef up it's security. Plus, the company is offering a $1,500 reward for information about this man that leads to his arrest and conviction.
"It's really frustrating because you don't know who done it or why they done it. And they are not going to get the value out of it that we put in it," said Roark.
He hopes the reward will cause someone to step forward with information.
If you have any information about the man in the security footage, you should call Kentucky State Police.
