Rogers receives public broadcasting champion award

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers has been given the
Association of Public Television Stations' Champion of Public
Broadcasting Award.

The Republican from Kentucky's 5th District received the award
Tuesday in Washington. In a statement from Kentucky Educational
Television in Lexington, Rogers said he felt honored to be given
the award.

KET Executive Director and CEO Shae Hopkins says Rogers has been
a strong supporter of public broadcasting.

Assocation of Public Television Stations President and CEO
Patrick Butler says even while keeping an eye on spending and
working to reduce the national debt, Rogers, who is chairman of the
House Appropriations Committee, has protected federal funding for
public broadcasting.
