Runners in Pikeville show support for Boston

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The 'Hillbilly Days Run for the Children' 10K was held in Pikeville on Saturday.

The race benefits Shriners Children's Hospital, but this year donations were also taken up for the 'One Boston Fund' to help the victims from the bombings in Boston.

Race organizers will send those donations plus an additional $500 to Boston.

Alexis Batausa says, "I was in shock with what happened last Monday and as a runner I want to run for them today and really the whole year. It just means a lot to us for them."

Race director, David Hatfield says, " We are close knit, especially with our fans and those were the people that suffered the most."

Runners also placed the Boston 'B' logo on their bibs to show support.
