Rural law enforcement agencies receive MDTs

HAZARD, Ky (WYMT) - Processing electronic warrants is a whole lot easier for a number of police departments right here in eastern Kentucky.

Thanks to a grant from the American Resources and Recovery Act, 78 law enforcement agencies across the state now have mobile data terminals (MDTs) in their cars.

The Hazard Police Department received one.

They say it can be beneficial for crime and accident reconstruction.

"This along with what we are currently using is just adding to an arsenal of new technologies that we can use to investigate crimes and police the way the community wants us to," said Lieutenant Paul Campbell.

Police say the computers make it possible for officers to access statewide information quickly and more accurately.
