Severe weather looks likely on Saturday afternoon. The best chances appear to be between 2 p.m. Saturday and Midnight. Damaging winds, large hail, heavy rain, and an isolated tornado or two are possible. Layoffs continue for those across Appalachia in the coal mining industry.
The Coalfield Progress reports A&G Mining of Wise County, Virginia delivered pink slips to an undetermined amount of workers last week.
The announcement comes on the heels of Arch Coal laying off 750 full time people.
The paper reports A & G laid off miners in January and then recalled workers in April.
