Officials with the United States Post Office announced in February they would cancel Saturday mail deliveries.
Now, those plans are on hold.
Saturday deliveries were supposed to stop the week of August 5th. The service will delay the start of the new schedule until Congress passes legislation they think is "financially appropriate." Some people we talked to in Perry County say they are glad there still will be mail deliveries on Saturdays come August.
"I'm glad they're not because the weekends don't mean a whole lot to a lot of people anymore because people continue to work on weekends and stuff like that. So business still needs to get done and things need to be sent out and received," said Leonard Shepherd, who lives in Viper.
When the new schedule eventually starts, packages will still be delivered on Saturdays
