School board votes to enter mediation

Posted: Wed 8:13 PM, Apr 20, 2011

The Harlan County School board votes to enter mediation to settle a non-resident student dispute with Harlan Independent Schools.

The district chose to take that option at their Tuesday night meeting.

Two board members were chosen to serve on the mediation team.

The Harlan Independent School board will meet next week.

At that time they will decide whether they want to participate in the process.

The state education commissioner suggested mediation as a way to settle the dispute for the 2012-2013 school year.
