School system receives grant to help homeless students

Hazard Independent Schools received a grant to help students federally classified as being homeless.

The Hazard Herald reports nearly 13% of the students in the school system are classified as homeless.

A new $65,000 grant will help combat the issue in the schools.

Other counties across the region participating in the program are Knott, Pike and Whitley Counties.
