Search continues for SUV involved in Las Vegas Strip shooting

Posted: Fri 7:15 AM, Feb 22, 2013

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police in Nevada have contacted authorities in three states about a Range Rover being sought after gunshots and a fiery crash on the Las Vegas Strip. Police say the SUV had dark tinted windows and a car dealer's advertisement instead of plates. Police say someone in the SUV opened fire on a Maserati that crashed into a cab. Two people in the cab and the Maserati driver died.

Las Vegas police Sgt. John Sheahan said the Range Rover was last seen near the Venetian resort as it headed north from the shooting scene on Las Vegas Boulevard.

Witnesses also told police the SUV and Maserati had come from the nearby CityCenter area, the home of the Aria hotel-casino, just south of the site of the attack. Sheahan said, "We have numerous witnesses to this. But what is the genesis of this? We don't know yet."

One tourist compared the dramatic scene - with bullets fired from the black Range Rover into the gray Maserati - to a violent action movie. The shooting marked the latest violent episode on the Strip since the beginning of the year.
