A second suspect is in custody for a murder that happened nearly a year ago.

State Police say 28-year-old Christina Marcum turned herself into the Madison County Detention Center Thursday night after a grand jury indicted her for murder and evidence tampering.

Police say the charges are in connection to the murder of Angela Singleton. Singleton's body was found in a Madison County field last January.

Also on the indictment, Singleton's husband, Jason Singleton, who already was charged with his wife's murder.

Marcum was reportedly Jason Singleton's girlfriend.

The indictment says the two beat and strangled Angela Singleton to death, dismembered her body, and then hid the evidence, including burning clothing and removing carpeting from the Singletons' home, where police say the crime happened.

Police found Angela Singleton's body in trash bags in a field in January in Madison County.

The indictment also says Marcum helped Jason Singleton avoid getting arrested by giving him a credit card and other items.

Jason Singleton is in jail in Pulaski County, where he pleaded guilty to holding a group of people hostage at a trucking company just days after his wife was found murdered. He's still awaiting his sentencing before he'll be sent back to Madison County to face the murder charge there.

Marcum is being held in the Madison County jail on a $500,000 bond.
