Another round of wintry weather is expected Wednesday night and Thursday.

An area of low pressure will track along the Tennessee Valley Wednesday night through Thursday. Cold air will be in place across east Kentucky. That means that snow will develop first.

Warmer air will begin slipping in and changing snow over to freezing rain from the southwest to the northeast.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 9pm Wednesday to 10am
Thursday for the following areas:

Bell, Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Knox, Laurel, Leslie, Letcher, McCreary, Owsley, Perry, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, and Whitley Counties.

Precipitation will begin as light snow late Wednesday, but will transition to a mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain.

The most significant impacts from this storm will be from freezing rain and sleet. Most locations could pick up between one quarter and one half of an inch of ice accumulation from Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

Travel will become difficult Wednesday night and Thursday morning as roadways become icy. There is a threat for downed limbs and power outages as ice accumulates on trees and power lines.

A Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 9pm Wednesday to 4pm
Thursday for the following areas

Breathitt, Floyd, Johnson, Knott, Lee, Magoffin, Martin, Morgan, Pike, Powell and Wolfe Counties.

Most locations have the potential for at least minor icing from this event. One to three inches of snow and one to two tenths of an inch of ice accumulation are anticipated from Wednesday night into the day on Thursday.
