Secretary of state seeks help in choosing slogan

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky secretary of state's office wants a new slogan to encourage residents to vote, but officials are first encouraging people to vote for a slogan.

The agency received entries from more than 1,000 students in sixth through eighth grades and has narrowed the field down to 20 finalists.

The office also held an essay contest for students in ninth through 12 grades. Prizes are up to a $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond in the slogan contest and four $3,000 U.S. Savings Bonds in the essay contest, made possible by contest sponsors.

To vote on the slogans, visit through 2 p.m. EST Feb. 28.
