U.S. Senator Rand Paul was in Lexington on Sunday to perform surgery on patients in need.
Paul, a licensed Ophthalmologist, performed cataract surgery on four patients Sunday morning. It's part of the "Surgery on Sunday" program, which helps people who can't afford insurance and don't qualify for state or federal programs.
"Surgery on Sunday" has helped more than 4,000 people in the last five years.
Paul says he hopes to take part in more volunteer surgeries like this in other areas of Kentucky.
