U.S. Senator Rand Paul made a stop in Pikeville today to talk about his plans for the state.

And while he was in the area, he endorsed Todd P'Pool for Kentucky Attorney General and James Comer for Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner.

Many people wanted to know what Senator Paul plans to do about the war against coal in Washington.

And he says he will do everything he can to stop President Obama from shutting down the coal industry.

U.S. Senator Rand Paul stopped in Pikeville to talk with folks about Kentucky's main issues.

He says they start in Washington.

"Your only chance to indirectly vote get rid of this president and his anti-coal message and his anti-coal policies is right here. To vote for Todd P'Pool and Jamie Comer," said Senator Paul.

Senator Paul says his plan for Kentucky does not include getting rid of coal and raising taxes.

"When you have joblessness in a recession and you tax someone who makes a million dollars, you will get rid of jobs. And people are hurt all the way down the ladder," said Senator Paul.

And as for jobs, Senator Paul says the government is not taking advantage of resources, such as, coal, natural gas, and oil.

"Our jobs plan, which we think we can cut unemployment in half, is by reducing tax rates, controlling regulations, and opening up energy production," said Senator Paul.

With a high unemployment rate in Kentucky, education is key to getting that good job.

Senator Paul says customizing education for students will benefit everyone, including teachers.

"I haven't met any of them (teachers) that like No Child Left Behind. I think it was a horrible takeover by the federal government of things that should be done in the local community," said Senator Paul.

Senator Paul says he is big on local control because education is something that is different everywhere.

Senator Paul says he plans to attend the Stop the War On Coal Rally in Knott County in support of the coal industry and what it does for this area.
