Many areas are still dealing with flooding, even as snow and sleet start to replace the rain. Some of the local major rivers are above flood stage and still rising. The good news is, many of the others have crested and will start to fall. The snow and sleet will continue through much of the day, before wrapping up tonight. Most areas will see several inches of accumulation. Keep it locked to WYMT for updates.
Three separate truck wrecks have closed Pike County roads.
Kentucky Route 194 at mile marker 46, on top of Big Creek Mountain, was shut down on Monday afternoon. Highway officials say two 18-wheeler trucks overturned in separate crashes within yards of each other. One is a coal truck and one is a tanker truck. There are no spills reported.
An 18-wheeler tanker truck also overturned on Kentucky Route 195 at Dead Man’s Curve, near Wolf Pit.
Highway District 12’s Elmer Keathley said the truck has to be uprighted and moved before the road can re-open.
