Several Eastern Kentucky counties with high unemployment rates

Seven counties in our coverage area are in the top 10 for highest unemployment rates in the state.

The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training reports that Magoffin County has the highest annual unemployment rate at close to 17 percent followed closely by Jackson County with more than 16 percent.

McCreary, Clay, Wayne, Wolfe, and Bell counties also are in the top ten.

The officials with the Office of Employment and Training does say there is an overall decline in the unemployment rate across the state.
