LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - In Laurel County, the sheriff's office has been working with school leaders to protect students from danger.

Around twenty officers will make a walk-thru at every school in the county at least once during the next month.

After that, they'll be put on a regular school rotation to become more familiar with school staff and the layout of each school.

The sheriff also plans to petition the Laurel County Fiscal Court for funding to hire school resource deputies.
