Shots are fired into a business during an alleged drive-by shooting in Pikeville.

Bullet holes are in the windows at Greg's Custom Audio, Video and Car Stereo Store on Bypass Road.

"From the size of the holes in the glass, it looks like a large caliber weapon,” Officer Tony Conn said.

Pikeville police say the store was closed on New Year's Eve when the shooting happened around six in the evening.

"The bullets went through the window and travelled and lodged into the brick wall of the business. It's very dangerous. If someone had been in the business, they could have been seriously hurt," Conn said.

Police say the shooting caused the store's alarm to go off. When officers responded, the shooter was gone. The gunfire did not strike any other businesses, so investigators think it was targetted.

Days after the alleged drive-by shooting, police are still combing the scene looking for clues.

Police say the owner told them there were no problems or threats before the shooting. Police say the owner, Greg Tackett, is well-liked in the community.

Police believe the gunfire made a loud noise, so they think someone in the area might have heard it. They ask anyone who heard a loud noise in the area to call police.
