A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through the overnight hours. Slow moving showers and thunderstorms continue. Stay alert for possible rapid rises on creeks and streams.
One of the main roads into the town of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee could be closed for months!
A rockslide happened Tuesday near a site where workers were clearing dirt. Those same workers were still on the job Wednesday despite the slide.
A federal inspector was on scene this morning but declined to comment. The town has its own engineers looking into it.
"Not good news, we've got our engineers up there right now evaluating the situation. When they give us a report back, we will make a decision about what direction we need to go next to remedy this problem," said John Douglas, Cumberland Gap Mayor.
The mayor said he is hoping the state will put up digital signs to alert drivers to the alternate route.
