PIKE COUNTY, (WYMT) - Fire officials in Pike County continue to urge homeowners to make sure they have working smoke detectors.
Officials say the amount of fires this year, especially fatal fires, is alarming.
The Pike County Firefighters Association continues to accept smoke detector donations to help prevent this problem. Officials say they still have several smoke detectors availabale and plan to receive even more donations.
President of the Pike County Firefighters Association, Randy Courtney says, "If you've got a smoke detector, it goes off, its going to save your life, your kids life, your grandkids life, you're going to get out and then also notify us quicker so we can respond."
If you need a smoke detector, contact your local Pike County fire department and they will come install one for you.
