Letcher County road crews ready for Winter weather

The Letcher County Road Department is preparing for the snow. Officials say their nine trucks are ready to clear the roads.

"We've got all of them started up to make sure that it's running so that we can be ready when it comes," said Jim Ward, Letcher County Judge Executive.

Even though Letcher County is prepared to deal with the weather, some people say they're ready for the Spring weather to show up.

"I always prefer spring and summer. All the outdoor activities, and all that. Nobody really likes the winter time but if it's going to happen, let it happen," said Joe King, who lives in Letcher County.

"I'm ready for Spring to actually warm up and have fun .It's always fun when it's warm out," said Sabrina Brock, who lives on Pine Mountain.

The people who say they can't wait for it to be warm have different reasons for for different reasons.

"I would like to have some fun times out in the lawn with my kids," said Romona Higgins, who lives in Letcher County.

"We can go bass fishing. It'll be nice. The flowers will be coming out. The trees will be budding," said Randy Watts, who lives on Pine Mountain.

Ward says this is the latest snow storm during his seven years in office.
