Snowshoe Mountain to open Thanksgiving Day

SNOWSHOE, W.Va. (AP) - The Snowshoe Mountain ski resort says the season will open Thanksgiving day.

Mild weather had put the opening in question, but cooler temperatures starting Wednesday and allowed 36 hours of continuous snowmaking. Snowshoe also has seen 25 inches of natural snowfall this season.

The slopes will open at 9 a.m. Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the top of the Ballhooter lift, at the edge of the resort's mountaintop Village.
