Marine injured in Afghanistan

An eastern Kentucky Marine injured in Afghanistan might return to the United States on his birthday this weekend.

Family members say Lance Corporal Jordan Freeman of Johnson County was shot in the arm on Monday.

It shattered his bones and muscles.

He has undergone surgery in Germany and is expected to fly to a hospital in Maryland this weekend.

“It could be so much worse, and even he said that, like I mean, it's bad. I didn't want him to get hurt at all, but at least he's okay and he'll be able to recover,” Kristina Freeman said.

Freeman will turn 20 years old on Sunday.
