Soldier returns to court

A Kentucky soldier accused of killing two women was back in court Friday ahead of his military trial.

Police say Brent Burke killed his estranged wife and her former mother-in-law in Rineyville back in 2007.

Four civilian trials have ended in mistrials or hung juries, so a civilian judge dismissed murder charges against Burke.

The military then filed premeditated murder charges in the case.

Burke was a military policeman at the time of the alleged crimes.

The hearing is taking place at Fort Campbell and is expected to last one to two days.
