Soldier's body lands in Laurel Co.

Updated: Wed 1:29 PM, Jan 18, 2012

20-year-old Dustin Napier's body is now back in Laurel County.

The private first class was killed in Afghanistan by gunfire while playing a game of volleyball.

On Tuesday, dozens of people were at the airport to greet this fallen soldier including the Patriot Guard Riders that led his body from the airport to the London Funeral Home.

"We're here to support the soldier and his family and friends in the community. To protect and stand between them and anyone who might cause any problems," said Patriot Guard Rider Danny Valentine.

Valentine says hearing that a soldier, especially from eastern Kentucky, dies while serving his country breaks his heart.

But, he also says that any fallen soldier deserves to be honored and respected which is why this group does this.

"There are soldiers in harms way all over the world and if something happens to them, we will help get them home with as little hassle. It's just our honor to do this for the family and for the soldier," said Valentine.

Napier's body is now at the London Funeral Home where funeral services will be held later this week.
