Southwest Virginia man killed in boating accident

HAMBLEN COUNTY, Tn. (WYMT/WJHL) - A Pound, Va., man died Monday afternoon in a two-boat collision, said a spokesperson for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

William Cantrell, 76, of Pound, Va., was killed when two bass boats crashed into one another shortly before noon, said David Crum, an officer for the agency. Timothy Cantrell, also of Pound, was taken to a hospital.

The other boat's occupants, 34-year-old Gary Cooper and 33-year-old Brandon Lawson, both of Rogersville, Tenn., were taken to Holston Valley Medical Center, where they were treated and released.

The accident remains under investigation.
