State legislature pursues remedies to teen dating violence

FRANKFORT, KY - The Kentucky House of Representatives is considering a bill aimed at reducing teen violence through creating new school policies.

The bill would require middle and high schools to include dating violence education in their curriculum.

Schools would also need to form policies on responding to students affected by dating violence.

According to the 2011 Kentucky Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 14.3% of high school students reported being hit, slapped, or otherwise abused by their boyfriends or girlfriends in the past year.
