State of emergency issued in Floyd and Johnson Counties

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Paintsville Mayor Bob Porter and Johnson County Judge/Executive Tucker Daniel issued a state of emergency Friday night in Johnson County.

Up to four inches of heavy rain Friday evening caused flooding and mudslides that damaged roads and property.

Assessment teams will be surveying storm damage on Saturday before reporting back to the State Emergency Management headquarters to determine further action.

Officials urge anyone driving in the area to travel with caution and avoid flooded areas .

Anyone with residential or commercial property damage and anyone who needs food or shelter can contact Paintsville/Johnson County Emergency Management Director Gary McClure at 606-789-2260 or 606-789-4221.
