LONDON, Ky (WYMT) - State police patrolled Interstate 75 Monday hoping to prevent some crashes.
Police say Memorial Day is one of the most traveled days of the year, so they are making sure people follow the law.
On Memorial Day weekend, you can almost expect to see more blue lights and hear sirens.
State police in London pulled over dozens of cars along Interstate 75 in Laurel County.
Police say there were around 10-15 officers on the detail.
Police say they are not only checking for speed, they are checking for all traffic violations.
"With any luck at all we will slow some of the higher speeders down and potentially prevent them from having a crash," said Trooper Don Trosper.
Travelers say traffic flowed pretty smoothly over the Holiday weekend, and state police hope their presence makes a difference.
"With this type of detail it helps us get the motoring public to be more aware of their speed, slow down and obey the laws," said Trosper.
Police say they also have patrols on other roads in the counties they serve.
