Spill investigation is underway

State officials are investigating a spill in a Letcher County creek that killed minnows.

The spill resulted in foamy bubbles piling several feet high on a small creek in Jenkins.

The Lexington Herald Leader reports officials with the department of fish and wildlife took samples from the creek to test.

Inspectors were not able to find the source of the spill.

Drinking water supplies in Jenkins were not affected by the leak.
