State officials remind motorists to drive sober

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - During the Christmas and New Year's
holiday last year, 10 people were killed on Kentucky highways,
including three deaths that involved alcohol.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is reminding people
celebrating the holidays not to drive drunk and warns law
enforcement officers will be out in force to arrest those caught
driving while intoxicated.

A northern Kentucky family is helping to spread the message.
Stephen and Karen Sikra and their three children, of Erlanger, are
featured in two public service announcements. The cabinet says
members of the Sikra family suffer from physical and mental trauma
because of injuries suffered in a crash involving a drunken driver,
and their messages will air statewide during the holidays.
