Folks in Eastern Kentucky have a unique chance to document oral history thanks to a national non-profit organization visiting the mountains.

Hosted by WMMT, StoryCorps is stopping in Eastern Kentucky for a second time since its creation in 2003.
StoryCorps allows anyone, free of charge, to come in to their Streamliner studio to record whatever they like.
Those with StoryCorps say they hear a variety of stories, and have their favorites.

"I'm a sucker for the love story. I love when people come in and talk about love. Not just love between a couple, but also mothers and daughters, fathers and sons. Whenever people are expressing how they admire and care for each other, I just love it," said coordinator Eloise Melzer."

"We could really be in that moment, and just share our stories, and get a chance to document them," said a participant.

StoryCorps will be in Whitesburg through May 14th.
You will need to make an appointment to participate, but it is free to the public.
