Student charged after threats in Harlan County

Posted: Fri 11:53 PM, Nov 30, 2012

HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) -- Police have charged the Harlan High School student with terroristic threatening.

They're not saying what the threat was, but they tell us no specific person was targeted.

The school sent letters home today telling parents about the incident.

But the principal says they should not be worried.

"I feel very safe here," said Charles Morton, principal. "My kids attend this school, and they're here, and we feel like we're working with the right people, got the right people involved, and so I don't think there's a reason to be concerned at this particular incident."

Police say they will have an officer at Harlan High School next week.
