HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - A Harlan High School student is facing charges as police investigate claims that he made threats at school.

“While Harlan Police continue to investigate the alleged threat, school administrators are telling parents their children are safe here,”

Friday, the Harlan principal sent a letter home telling parents a student made "threatening comments" at school.

Police charged the student with terroristic threatening. His name is not released.

Police are also not saying what the threat was, but say no specific person was targeted and they believe all students are safe at school.

Harlan police are putting extra officers at the school to monitor for anything suspicious.

Investigators say the school, police, and the student's family are all cooperating in the investigation.
