Middle school students from throughout Eastern Kentucky gathered in Hazard to tackle a project in space.
Students are working to create documentaries about various NASA missions.
In the workshop, they learned how to research and use technology to edit video.
Organizers say jobs are available in this field of work, but there is not enough people in the U.S. to fill them.
"What we want to do is get students motivated and excited about those stem areas, become engineers, and fill those jobs, so that people here can get work," said Rebecca Roach, who works at Morehead State University.
The Kentucky Space Movie Project is a collaborative effort between the Challenger Center at Hazard Community and Technical College and Morehead State University.
