PINEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - An Eastern Kentucky educator is behind bars.

Investigators say a Bell County substitute teacher sent obscene pictures to a 14-year-old student.

Adam Scott Hunter, 25, of Clear Creek is charged with Use of a Minor Under 16 in a Sex Performance and Distribution of Obscene Matter to Minors. He is in the Bell County Detention Center on a one million dollar bond.

Bell County Sheriff Deputies say they saw the pictures and messages on the 14-year-old girl's phone.

"The images, very disturbing," said Sheriff Bruce Bennett.

The Sheriff says the girl got the pictures from Hunter, a substitute teacher at the Page School in Pineville.

"More than likely, that's how he met her," said Sheriff Bennett.

The Sheriff says on Wednesday afternoon, Page School officials notified them of the pornographic pictures. Hunter was not at school at the time. Deputies got a warrant and say they found a computer and the camera that took the pictures in Hunter's possession.

"I think it's extremely serious, if we can't protect our children right in schools, especially from a teacher," said Sheriff Bennett.

Hunter turned down WYMT's request for a jailhouse interview.

Bell County Superintendent Yvonne Gilliam says she and Page School officials cannot comment due to the ongoing police investigation.

Investigators say the school board followed proper procedure.

"My hat goes off to the Bell County Sheriff's Office and the School Board as well. They've been extremely cooperative in this investigation," said Chris Douglas, Assistant Bell County Attorney who helped obtain the search and arrest warrants.

Officials say Hunter is no longer a substitute teacher.

The Sheriff says Hunter's camera and computer are now at the crime lab in Frankfort for analysis.

They are also still investigating whether any other students received pictures.
