Teen recovers from being hit by a car

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - A teenager is recovering after being hit by a car in Knox County.

Barbourville police say the 14 year old and another boy were trying to ride bicycles across 25E near Rite Aid and Burger King.

Police say a pick-up truck hit the 14 year old.

His name was not released.

He was flown to UT hospital with leg and head injuries.

Police believe the driver could not have avoided the crash.

“Based upon the investigation right now, it's simply an accident. It's not a very well-lit area. We've had some previous issues there before with the amount of lighting there is and then the restaurant lighting that surrounds it, it creates visibility issue there,” Steve Owens said

The truck driver was not injured.

There is no word on the teen's condition.
