Police searched for a man for several hours who robbed a grocery store on U.S. 1148 and demanded cash from the clerk.
Kentucky State Police received a call at around 3 p.m. on Sept. 15 about an armed robbery at this store in the Isom community.
"An armed subject came in wearing a hoody and a bandana across his face to hide his identity," said Det. Kevin Hurt of KSP Post 13.
"He came into Maggard's grocery here and demanded money from the cash register."
They said he exited through the front door when he was unable to obtain any cash.
"The suspect then went out side and then fled into the tree line here across from the store," said Hurt.
Officials said the conjoined efforts of state and county police along with surveillance video provided by the business owners all added to the speedy recovery of the suspect.
"The K.S.P. K9 unit also responded and was able to track the suspect through the woods where we recovered some clothing," said Hurt.
The suspect, 19-year-old Roger Alan Miles, was caught not far from the scene after a few hours of searching. He has been charged with robbery in the first degree and is being held at the Letcher County Jail.
