Teen scares off intruder with bat

OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) - Western Kentucky officials say a
13-year-old girl sent her younger sister to lock herself in the
bathroom then swung a bat at an intruder, scaring him out of their
house.
The Daviess County sheriff's department says the teen heard
someone rattle the front door Wednesday morning and woke her
8-year-old sister, telling her to go into the bathroom, lock the
door and turn out the light. The older girl hid in a bedroom, and
when the intruder got into the house and approached the room where
she was hiding, swung at him with her bat, the sheriff's department
said.
A neighbor saw a speeding vehicle leave the residence and
followed, eventually finding the vehicle abandoned.
Deputies later arrested two men on second-degree burglary
charges, 36-year-old Jason W. Harris of Hopkinsville and
24-year-old Ben Canary of Evansville, Ind.
