Test results released by Kentucky's Department of Education Tuesday show improvement in test scores among 8th and 10th graders.
The Explore and Plan tests are designed to show how well students are prepared for high school and college.
Scores increased or remained the same in most areas and are also growing closer to national averages.
Department of Education spokesperson Lisa Gross says these scores are encouraging.
"We are seeing the right movement. Our students are gaining more knowledge, and that's really what's important that our students are learning at higher levels," said Gross.
She also says these scores will eventually be included in the accountability system for the state.
