Thieves have turned to text messages to steal your money.

Kentucky State Police officials say scammers have been sending messages to people claiming their credit or debit card has been deactivated.

The message gives people a number to call and when they do, they're asked to enter their card number.

State police say you should never give you personal information to people who call you and ask for it.
