A theft investigation leads police to arrest a Knox County pawn shop operator.
State police say a theft victim found his stolen tiller at the Vendor’s Mall in Barbourville.
Investigators say the pawn shop operator, 43 year old Randy Hale, refused to release the tiller back to the owner and the owner had to buy back his own property.
State police say Hale had no record of how he got the stolen tiller, so police charged him with receiving stolen property.
“Once we made contact with Mr. Hale, he failed to provide any information on who brought the stolen property in, the date, the time, so we made an arrest,” Shane Jacobs said.
Police say state law requires pawn shops to keep record of all items they receive.
