KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) Thieves made off with thousands of dollars of farm equipment in Knott County last week.

Three walk-behind Gravely Model L tractors were stolen from Charlie Maggard's garden on Hollybush Road.

For five years, Maggard, Larry Hall, and one other man have tended to their garden.

"What we don't harvest and eat for ourselves, we give it to neighbors and friends," said Maggard.

"We've not sold one piece of beans or nothing out of this garden," said Larry Hall, "We just do it for the exercise and to get out of the house."

Last week, they discovered the equipment missing from their shed.

They say someone cut the heavy chains that tied the tractors together.

"We're just gonna harvest what we've got," said Maggard, "I don't know, we'll buy back and try it again next year. But they've not broke us yet."

Hall says he's offering a $1,000 reward for information leading the the stolen equipment.
