LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville's annual fireworks spectacular went off without a hitch Saturday night, despite increased security.
Officials say Thunder Over Louisville attracted about 500,000 spectators to the show along the Ohio riverfront.
The Courier-Journal reports (http://cjky.it/11saKYk ) the show by Zambelli Fireworks Internationale used 56,000 shells and 250 tons of launching tubes.
Louisville Police said in a statement Sunday morning that there were a total of six arrests for minor offenses and 104 towed vehicles for the day.
Jenny Thompson, of Mount Washington, says she wasn't concerned about the increased security in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings earlier this week. She says "we can't be prisoners in our own homes, you can't live that way."
There were more than 1,000 police officers and bomb-sniffing dogs on patrol Saturday.
