Thursday marks 61st annual national prayer day

Posted: Thu 6:01 PM, May 03, 2012

Two days ago, President Obama signed a presidential proclamation officially recognizing Thursday as the 61st Annual National Day of Prayer.

From coast to coast, people across the country prayed for guidance, grace and protection of our nation and one another.

Participants stood united by their belief in the power of prayer.

Those who were involved say that events like National Prayer Day are important because they bring the community together.

Participants also hope the day of public community prayer becomes a permanent tradition.
