UPDATE: Tobacco store robbery in Barbourville

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Barbourville Police need help identifying a man who robbed a tobacco store Tuesday night.

Police say the man threatened the clerk before getting cash.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. at Tobacco Stop on 25E.

"This was a very dangerous encounter," said Det. Steve Owens.

The Tobacco Stop surveillance video shows a man wearing a black sweatshirt walk up to the drive through window and point a gun at the clerk.

"Pointed a gun at the clerk's face and demanded he give her all of the money. Stood at the window with the gun pointed at the clerk until she provided him the money from the cash register," said Det. Owens.

Police say the robber got around $1,000.

The robber ran away from the store. Police are also looking for a dark colored Chevrolet Trailblazer that was behind the store to see if it is connected.

The store owner and employees did not want to talk on camera but ask anyone with information to come forward.

Police want to identify and find the suspect before he can strike again.

"Of course he's armed and with the demeanor that we saw, we consider to be a dangerous person," said Det. Owens.

The suspect is described as 6'1" to 6'4" tall with facial hair and a medium build.

BARBOURVILLE, Ky (WYMT) - The Barbourville Police Department is reporting a robbery at a tobacco store on 25 E.

Tuesday night, police say one man with a hand gun threatened a clerk and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as being between 6'1" and 6'4".

Police say a dark colored Trailblazer was parked near the side of the store during the time of the robbery and are searching for it.
