The family of a 13-month-old Clay County girl, can't hold back the tears each time they look at the child's favorite toys in the living room.

"You couldn't ask for a better little grandbaby, I loved her so much," said Bernice Anderson, the child's grandmother, through tears.

Earlier this evening the toddler was hit and killed by a car in her family's driveway.

"He, the driver, did not see the child, started to move the vehicle and struck the child," said Chief Deputy Brian Jackson of the Clay County Sheriff's Deparment.

Even more, Jackson says Bobby Lee Sester, Jr., the driver, was a family friend and never even knew he hit the child until a family member yelled out.

"It's terrible," said Chief Dep. Jackson

Jackson says Sester later admitted that he had been drinking and even taken prescription drugs. He was given a field sobriety test and even gave deputies a blood sample to be tested.

After the accident, Sester and the child's family climbed into his car where they raced almost five miles away to meet the ambulance. The child was taken to Manchester Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Sester is behind bars in Clay County facing a charge of manslaughter.
