The WYMT Food City Charity Golf Classic is a way to give back to Eastern Kentucky communities and help students reach their goals and get a college degree.

This year, five students are receiving the Tony Turner Memorial Scholarship.

It's named after our former news anchor and station manager that died nearly ten years ago in a car accident.

Teams were out for several hours making their way through the course all to raise money for graduating seniors who are heading off to college and pursuing careers in the broadcasting field.

This years golf classic has provided thousands of dollars in scholarships for aspiring journalists, seniors hoping to get one closer to their dream. For Blake Nash that means pursuing his passion.

For one aspiring journalist, this award means so much more.

Her dad was Tony Turner.

Courtney Turner has big dreams which could bring her right back here where her father once sat.

Turner's whole family was there for the event, making this golf classic in honor of Tony Turner a little more special.
