Officials with the National Weather Service have confirmed a tornado touched down in Middlesboro Tuesday night.
The EF-1 twister left damage in the 19th street area of the city.
"This caught us off guard. We are never ready for something like this. We are not prepared." says Benny Hickman, a local business owner.
"We are alive to tell about it. We can get back material things but we can get life back." says Frankie Sephs, who saw the tornado.
Witnesses say they cannot believe what they saw.
Officials say weather like this is unusual for this part of the region.
"This part typically struggles to get strong tornadoes. This is unusual for this part of the state." says Jim Maczko with the National Weather Service.
Officials say they are just glad no one was hurt.
The damaged section of 19th Street is still closed to the public while crews work to restore power.
