Train hits car

A collision between a car and train sends one woman to the hospital.

It happened Wednesday afternoon off U.S. 23 in Floyd County.

State police say Mary Boyd of Dana was trying to cross a CSX Railroad Crossing in the Banner community when the train slammed into her car.

They say it appears that Boyd tried to speed up to beat the train.

“There were no arms down but the signals were actually flashing at the time of the incident,” CVE Officer James Fields said.

Boyd was taken to Pikeville Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
